Forest Estates Hosts Farmers Market PDF Print E-mail
Monday, 09 May 2011
Forest Estates hosts a fabulous Farmers Market from May through November each year. The market is run by Calvert Farm and offers a wide range of season and primarily organic fruits and vegetables.

We hold the event from 9 a.m. to 12 noon in General Getty Park, 10000 Woodland Avenue, Silver Spring, MD 20902 just off Georgia Avenue between Forest Glen Road and Dennis Avenue.

It’s a great place to bring the family as the market is sheltered from any traffic, there’s a popular play structure for kids to play on and a large field to run around in, and we have easy parking. Please see our Photo Gallery at http://www.forestestates.org/gallery2/v/market2009

Forest Estates also offers a CSA (Community Supported Agriculture) program which provides delicious boxes of fruits and vegetables every Wednesday evening for pick up  from one of the neighborhood homes. Please see www.CalvertFarm.com for more information. If interested, please sign up for the Silver Spring Forest Glen - Private Residence- Brisbane Street.

Getty Park Day - October 3rd PDF Print E-mail
Thursday, 24 September 2009

Hello Neighbors!!

Getty Park Day is Oct 3 from 3 to 6 pm.

This is our traditional potluck event that was begun by Forest Estates Community Association members to celebrate the founding of the park.

This year we’re hoping for good weather and FECA is getting a moonbounce for the youth to bounce in.  To organize the potluck a bit, we suggest the following

By first letter of last name:

A-E             Snacks / appetizer

F-N            Entrée / something for the grill

O-Z            Dessert

FECA will supply plates, napkins, etc and some basic grill stuff (hotdogs / hamburgers / veggie burgers / buns).

As always we could use a few volunteers:

1) 2-3 grills – Could people who live near the park volunteer to drag their grill over for the afternoon?

2)   People to help setup at 3 and cleanup at 6

3)   People to help grill and monitor the moonbouncing

Please email me at This email address is being protected from spam bots, you need Javascript enabled to view it if you can help out.

Thanks for your help and I hope we have a great turnout!!

Jay

Your FECA events coordinator
