The format of this popular event will be different this year, due to the excellent suggestions made on the community e-mail list.
This year, the sale will begin at 8 a.m. and end at noon, with a rain date of Sunday, May 6. In addition, the sale will be a mix of the traditional lower Belvedere Boulevard sale and yard sales by individual residents. A continental breakfast sale will be held mid-block. We will still close down the north side of the 1600 block of Belvedere, and anyone who would like to set up in the median is welcome to do so. However, people may also choose to set up a yard sale in front of their own homes. |

The Mid-County Citizen’s Advisory Board will award Crossing Georgia – a subcommittee of the Forest Estates Community Association (FECA) – the “Civic Association of the Year” for its efforts to get a pedestrian tunnel or overpass installed at the intersection of Georgia Avenue (Maryland Rt. 97) and Forest Glen Road in Silver Spring to reduce the risks to pedestrians. The Board will also award neighborhood resident Adam Pagnucco as “Citizen of the Year” for his tireless leadership of the committee. In addition to the Mid-County awards, Crossing Georgia and Pagnucco will receive citations from the State of Maryland’s District 18 delegation (Senator Rich Madaleno and delegates Ana Sol Gutiérrez, Jane Lawton and Jeff Waldstreicher), to be presented by Delegate Lawton. |

This event was a fantastic success. Thank you to the House Tour Committee (Roberta Ciucki, Kathy Morgan, Laura Pawlowski, and Danielle Sodani), the hosts of the party (Richard Lutz and Paul Gordon), and all of the home-owners who opened their beautiful houses to us! View pictures of the event. |

Our cat Kala ventured up into a tree in our backyard on the evening of Saturday, October 28th. She made it up near the top of the tree - nearly 5 stories high, and was too terrified to try to come down. We did not discover her until the next morning Sunday. Because Kala had become stuck in a tree just 2 weeks earlier, and had managed to overcome her fears and climb down after only 16 hours, we were confident that she would once again figure it out. Yes, she was much much higher up this time, but eventually, she would get hungry or thirsty and climb down, right? |
