About
What is Forest Estates?
Forest Estates is a neighborhood in Forest Glen (Silver Spring), Maryland, of approximately 700 homes built in the 1940s to 1960s. Located near the Forest Glen Metro (including the planned and funded new Metro entrance east of Georgia Avenue) and Holy Cross Hospital, it includes General Getty Park, Forest Grove Neighborhood Park, the Holy Cross Resource Center, the Montgomery County Childcare Association Center, and St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church & School, and borders Sligo Creek Park and trail.
The Forest Estates Community Association (FECA) manages activities in the neighborhood.
FECA Board
Event Coordinator
Kathleen, a longtime resident of the neighborhood, returned two years ago to care for a family member who fell ill. In the fall of 2024, she joined the FECA board as the events coordinator. She is eager to contribute and support the area.
Treasurer
Aaron moved with his wife and their dog to Forest Estates in 2007, purchasing a Cape Cod on August Drive (becoming only its second family). With their growing family, they moved into a Colonial onto Brisbane Street, which they still call home. Aaron first volunteered with FECA as a newsletter designer in 2011, and has served as treasurer since early 2022.
Inclusion Coordinator
Karen is a 10 year resident in the Forest Estates community. She and her husband co-own Suite on Sanford. Karen has served in different capacities in the neighborhood and in the county. She uses equity, inclusion and introduced consent decision making in her role as inclusion coordinator.
FECA is seeking volunteers for board positions and events.
